A Week Since Last Treatment

As you can see in the picture my hands are peeling. This only hurts in the places where it is very red like where my thumb meets my palm. Yes, it is very unpleasant and hurts in places on both hands. Ick. Anyway, the doctor has stopped the pills again until my hands improve. I go see her next week to find out if I need to continue to take the Xeloda. I hope that I will be finished for this cycle.
I feel crummy, but Steve keeps reminding me that I am doing so much better than the first two cycles. My stomach seems to be better and I definitely have less queasiness. So maybe this is what I can expect in the next cycles.
I report back to work in three weeks. I hope that I can do it. I hope that working will help me keep my mind off feeling lousy.

Liz,
I was thinking about you today and wondering how you felt about returning to school. I pray you will be well enough, because I feel the same way about focusing on school and blocking out the rest for a while.
You may need a little more time to get it together. An extended sick leave will not threaten your position.
I attended the new INTECH 21s on Wednesday and Thursday. The office staff has to be back to work Monday. I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone.
I spoke to Ian Tuesday. He is working part time for Loisiana Computers. We use their service so I will be able to call on him officially now. He is a little upset about having to leave Taylor. He says that when he graduates he wants to move away from the south and probably move to California. Ahh youth.

Elizabeth,
I got my issue of the YALSA journal today and I read your article. Congrats on being published! I check on you through your blog weekly... and you are in my thoughts. I saw Ellen's post and that reminded me to email her so hope you are fairing ok. On another subject.. I just finished Northern Light and thought it was an interesting book.. slow start but interesting for girls to read. I am reading the new Walter Dean Myers book Sunrise over Fullijiah (sp wrong) about the Iraq war. Let you know about that one when I finish.
Tracey
PS.. I love your pictures with your various "head gear".. I knew you would have fabulous "head gear." =)

I haven't gotten my YALS magazine yet, so I have not seen my article in print. I think that it is the first time that I have been "published."

I just read _Boy Toy_ by Barry Lyga about the boy seduced by a teacher then watched the Oprah show about the boy seduced into an Internet porn business. Very powerful stuff. The book was very well written but it is definitely for the more mature high school reader.

Liz,
Have you told any of the other librarians about what you are going through? I have not mentioned it to anyone, and wouldn't until I have your OK. It was nice to talk to Tracy since I saw her on your Blog.

You are a wonder! Thanks for coming to the party. I was so impressed you could stay. It was cute how Steve was guiding you out. Looking forward to tomorrow - I so need a coffee break!

I have told Meg all about what is going on with me and gave her a link to this blog. I have not told the other librarians in the district. I am fine with them knowing; I just can't make an announcement. Feel free to let others know. Elizabeth
